Castle of Burwick, South Ronaldsay

The castle of Burwick is a series of stone and earth ramparts surrounding a large mound. It is believe to be an Iron Age fort, with several other surrounding structures, possibly connected to a monastic settlement. The headland on which it stands is joined to South Ronaldsay by a narrow, eroding ridge of rock and access is hazardous.
