Churchill Barrier No 3

This huge concrete barrier and causeway is one of four commissioned by Winston Churchill, First Lord of the Admiralty, after the sinking of HMS Royal Oak in 1939. It is made of 5- and 10-ton concrete blocks, finished with a road surface to create a causeway between the islands of Glimps Holm and Burray.
