König, wreck site, Scapa Flow
SMS König was one of the four Dreadnought-style battleships in her class, and amongst the biggest warships in the world. In 1914, a year after launch, she was the flagship of the German High Seas Fleet 3rd Squadron.
Interned in Scapa Flow after the Armistice, SMS König was scuttled on 21 June 1919. The wreck was sold to Metal Industries Ltd but the attempted salvage failed and her shattered remains still lie on the sea bed. More information can be found here.
