Twinly Kirk, Swona

Believed to be the oldest church on Swona, Twinly Kirk stands at the head of Kirk Geo - the broad geo with the stony beach at the south-west end of the island. There is a row of three buildings, of which the middle one is the church. Only the inner wall-face can now be seen, the lower part consisting of carefully-laid quarried stones, in contrast to the cruder modern masonry of the upper layers.
